ProShares Ultra Semiconductors (ETF) (NYSE: USD) led the losers among ETFs in today's trading session. USD lost 6.11% and closed at $31.50 because some of the leading stocks in the semiconductors sector declined today. Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) fell 3.17% and closed at $20.80, while Applied Materials, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMAT) dropped to $13.73 with a loss of 4.32%.
The losses in the banking sector have hurt Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares(ETF) (NYSE: FAS). FAS dropped 5.02% tripling the loss of the Russell 1000 Financial Index. Some of the components of the Russell 1000 Financial Index are JP Morgan (NYSE: JPM), Bank of America (NYSE: BAC), Wells Fargo (NYSE: WFC), Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS) and Citigroup (NYSE: C). Bank of America (BAC) and Wells Fargo (WFC) lost more than 3%, while JP Morgan (JPM) and Citi (C) dropped 2.26% and 2.56% respectively. Goldman Sachs (GS) fell 1.97% and closed at $165.21.
Direxion Daily Technology Bull 3x Shares (ETF) (NYSE: TYH) is another tech ETF that suffered today. TYH lost 3.98% and closed at $156.25.
Claymore/MAC Global Solar Index (ETF) (NYSE: TAN) fell 4.36% today. MAC Global Solar Energy Index was trading down today similarly to stocks like First Solar, Inc.
(NASDAQ: FSLR), MEMC Electronic Materials, Inc.
(NYSE: WFR). Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd. (ADR)
(NYSE: STP) and SolarWorld AG (ETR: SWV) closed in the red zone. Suntech (STP) lost 3.23% and SolarWorld dropped 5.52%. First Solar (FSLR) fell 0.62% while WFR declined 2.40%.
