Solar Stocks Hurting Today (FSLR, STP, JASO)

The solar stocks are hurting today, as the broader markets are sharply weaker on fears that Ireland will need a bailout, and China is going to raise interest rates.

JA Solar Holdings Co., Ltd. (NASDAQ: JASO) is down 63 cents to $7.78, a loss of nearly 8%. This comes on the back of 9.5 million shares, which is about in line with its average daily volume. The average daily volume is 10.6 million shares.

First Solar, Inc. (NASDAQ: FSLR) is down $7.57 to $132.09, a loss of over 5%. Volume is fairly heavy, as the stock has traded more than its average daily volume of 1.8 million shares so far, with over an hour left to trading.

Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd. (NYSE: STP) is the strongest of the three solar names mentioned, but is still down substantially, over 2% today. Volume is about in line with its average, having traded 3.4 million shares today. The average volume is just over 4.4 million shares.
