Former Bill Clinton Aide Talks Hillary's 'Structural Advantage'

Keith Boykin, a former White House aid to Bill Clinton and Donald Trump's campaign surrogate Scottie Nell Hughes sat down to

talk politics on CNBC. Nell Hughes began the conversation by pointing out Donald Trump's dramatic defeat in which he successfully navigated a playing field of more than a dozen candidates to emerge on Tuesday as the presumptive Republican nominee. Meanwhile, she added, Clinton "still has to deal with the pebble in her shoe that is Bernie Sanders." Boykin jumped in and argued that Sanders is a very small "pebble" as the senator from Vermont has "no chance of winning the nomination." "It will be a race between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton," Boykin continued. "The Republican party is more divided than I have ever seen in my entire lifetime, and that is really troubling." Nell Hughes responded by pointing out that 70 percent of independents in Indiana supported Sanders, according to exit polls. She added that the independents are mostly millennials who are looking for jobs and are more likely to "trust" Trump to create jobs over Clinton. "It is not a requirement for Hillary Clinton to win independents," Boykin countered. "She has a structural advantage that Republican candidates don't have. She could actually lose Florida, Ohio and Virginia and still win the general election."
