Stocks That Could Sell-Off In Short Term (F, TXT, XTO, WLT)
CNBC's Fast Money veteran trader Gary Kaminsky talked on the show about a possible influence that taxable gains could have on stock prices. If an investor is holding a stock for more than a year, he or she qualifies for long-term taxable gains. Long term capital gains are taxed at a lower rate then short term gains.
Gary Kaminsky thinks that this matters to people and as a result they might decide to sell the stocks. Investors that bought the stocks in the March of 2009 could be waiting to qualify for tax gains and then profit on their picks.
Kaminsky suggests that stocks that outperformed in the last year could sell-off in the short term. These stocks include Ford (NYSE: F), Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT), XTO Energy Inc. (NYSE: XTO) and Walter Energy, Inc. (NYSE: WLT).
