Shares of Herbalife Ltd. HLF opened strong this Friday on reports that people connected with Bill Ackman and Pershing Square are under investigation for potential stock manipulation.

Ackman was on CNBC recently to share his views on the report and whether this can affect his reputation.

Don't Need To Make False Statements

Ackman was asked if he can say with absolute certainty that anyone who Pershing Square hired or paid has never made a false or misleading statement against Herbalife.

He replied, "We have hired one of the most reputable government relations firms. In fact, Global Strategy Group has helped many politicians get elected, including people in office...It's a reputable firm, but it's possible that one of them made a false statement -- certainly possible."

He continued: "First of all, we don't need to make false statements about Herbalife, alright?

"My statements couldn't be more clear...this is a pyramid scheme. I have said it loud and clear that's a violation of the law; they are intentionally deceiving people, promising them that Herbalife is a wonderful business opportunity, and then they take their money and that money gets transferred to a handful of the people at the top of the pyramid," Ackman added.

"These are true statements, I stand behind them. We have evidence to support them."
