Honeywell International Inc. HON recently concluded its investor day, where the company reaffirmed its numbers for 2015 and CEO Dave Cote announced that he is “committed to growing our dividend rate faster than earnings.”

Cote was interviewed by CNBC's Jim Cramer at the event. In the interview, he talked about the new software innovation happening at Honeywell and the trend of meta-connection.

The Most Exciting Thing

When asked what's the most amazing thing Honeywell has got going for itself, Cote replied, “Just the plethora of new products. New products that go around the world and in every single business and it's just . . . I am really pumped up about everything that we have got coming. When I go back 13 years ago, we just had an empty pipeline. Now, every single business has great new products [...] and a lot of it is software based.”

Being Smart

“Well, we are going to see connected everything,” Cote said. “So there's going to be connected homes, connected buildings, connected factories, connected planes, connected workers – which is also going to occur.

“Like, with a lot of things though, it's important for a company to be smart about it, because it's very easy to get caught up in the trend and just say, ‘Okay, the trend is right; the trend is good. Just spend whatever you can.’

"But at the end of the day, everything is going to end up being connected in some way. And I think we are being pretty smart about how we do it on both the plane and not just the plane, but the home, building, worker, factory. It's the right kind of trend, you just have to be smart about it,” Cote concluded.
