Ford Motor Company F is trying it’s best to regain the ground it lost to other car manufacturers in the year’s following the financial crisis. Its new F-150 was crowned as the ‘truck of the year’ at the Detroit Auto Show recently.

Mark Fields, Ford Motor CEO, was recently on CNBC to discuss about the success of the new F-150 and the future for autonomous cars.

“We are launching the vehicle now, it’s shipping to dealerships, it’s actually the fastest turning vehicle on our lots right now…less than 5 days. So, customers are coming in, they have been waiting for it, they know this is the toughest, smartest, most capable F-series we have ever produced and they love the design of it and it’s going right out the door,” Fields said.

On the growing market for supercars, Fields said, “Well, it’s growing we are really using our new supercar to use it as a showcase for all of our innovation and technology, all the things we have done with eco boost engine efficiency, what we have done with light weight materials. What we have done with things like aerodynamics and we are using the new GT to kind of showcase all of that."

Autonomous Vehicle Is The New ‘Cool’ But What About Those Who Love Driving?

“We have a spectrum of customers and our approach as a company is to have a full line-up of vehicles, serve all markets with that full line-up and everything from the joy of driving to semi autonomous vehicle to the fully autonomous vehicles that we are working on for the future. We want to be there for our customers when they walk in our showrooms,” Fields replied.
