Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN outdid itself today by announcing 1-hour delivery for its customers. However, this facility is currently available only for Amazon Prime customers and only at certain geographical locations, which is perhaps the primary reason why there is not much excitement regarding the service.

CNBC’s Carl Quintanilla reported on this new delivery feature from Amazon, while Jon Steinberg, Daily Mail North America CEO, provided his perspective on why the service is unimpressive.

“Another splashy roll-out from Amazon, rolling out 1-hour delivery called Prime Now for tens of thousands of items, its only open to Prime subscribers, has its own dedicated Prime Now app. Follows on Amazon pushing the same-day delivery […] Its only in select areas of Manhattan, we’ve only seen it available at one zip-code so far. Reachedout to Amazon, a spokesperson says they will be adding new zip-codes in Manhattan very quickly,” Quintanilla said.

When Quintanilla asked Steinberg if he is impressed with the service, he replied, “I am unimpressed right now, I went online this morning, I tried to order it to the office, then I was going to try to order it to the set here as well, Its only at 1 zip code. Jason Del Ray from Re/Code says on Twitter, its only available to 17 residential units right now, I tweeted back to Jason, I said, do you think throughout the morning in real time they are going to roll-out new zip-codes. He said he was checking with the company, I don’t know why the company won’t give us a timeline.”
