Founded in 1984 by Len Bosack and Sandy Lerner, Cisco Systems, Inc. CSCO is celebrating its 30th year of existing as a company today. The great run on the markets that the company’s stock had this year (up by over 20%) seems to be an added source of joy.

Cisco Systems CFO, Kelly Kramer, and CEO, John Chambers, were recently on CNBC to discuss the company’s positioning for the future.

“If you look […] where we are going, we position ourselves very well on a global basis,” Chambers said.  We are able to see what’s going on in all the countries around the world and I am not giving you an update in terms of our business, but we said in our last quarter conference call, the US is very solid, probably better than people are anticipating.”

“We are more optimistic on Europe and the rest of the world. The emerging markets are a little bit of a wild card, but we have positioned ourselves very well on a global basis. CISCO is a trusted brand on a global basis […] we are very well positioned for the future.”

When Kramer was asked whether the political turmoil in countries where Cisco operates hampers the company due to it being seen as a US entity, she replied, “I think, we are viewed globally as a technology company. I think, we had very strong quarter last quarter in Europe and we feel great about that. Sure we have some weakness in some countries like China and Russia but overall, I think, we are viewed as a global technology company.”
