Simon Thorpe, CEO of Brewery Ommegang, spoke on CNBC's Squawk Box Thursday morning about their new line of Game of Thrones beers based on the HBO

on sales. Thorpe pained a picture of Brewery Ommegang as a tiny spot tucked away in upstate New York. “It sits at the top of the quality pyramid. I mean, they're probably only four or five breweries in the country that can do what we can do and when you get a hookup like this, it transforms what you can do,” said Thorpe regarding HBO approaching them to make their Game of Thrones beers.

“We can't afford a big TV budget, so this has given us I think something in the reason of 200 million social media impressions. I'm mean, that's transforming for a little brewery like us.” He cited a “direct correlation” between social media impressions and sales so far Thorpe said that HBO is infamous for having a fabulous working reputation with actors and directors, and that the same is true for beer companies, which he said allowed for “great creative license” when crafting beers around their Game of Thrones story lines.
