Amongst the big happenings during the weekend was the rift between Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) and Macmillan over the pricing of E-books.

According to CNBC’s Jim Goldman, Amazon has promised to sell all its E-books at the $9.99 price tag. However, Amazon removed the Macmillan titles from its store in response to Macmillan entering into an agreement with Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) for selling its books at a higher price. Later, Amazon conceded and raised the prices of these books.

Under the new arrangement, books would be priced between $12.99-$14.99. Amazon would get a 30% commission. It seems like that Amazon has caved into the pressure from Macmillan and Apple.
