Cable behemoth Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSA) and NBC Universal (NYSE: GE) are in the process of convincing Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that their merger is in the public interest. They are also trying to make a point that this merger should not invoke antitrust laws. Both the companies have also junked the rumors that the merged entity will dominate online videos.

According to CNBC's Julia Boorstin, the merger is highly likely to be approved, however nothing can be said about the timeline. She also said that Comcast CEO Brian Roberts is optimistic about the completion of the deal within a year.
