Every parent knows their children are the ultimate decision makers when it comes to some of the more trivial matters, such as where to go for dinner and what to wear.

According to a report by Bloomberg, Target Corporation TGT is hoping this trend continues for years to come, as the company is placing its future in the hands of kids today.

Target's two kids' labels, Cherokee and Circo, have been solid product lines for the retailing giant. Sales of these two product lines have accounted for roughly a billion dollars a year, but Target is now looking to take its product offerings to the next level.

Target's designers have been busy interacting with around 1,000 children aged four to 12 in their homes, online, at day-long fairs and focus groups to better understand what they want in a new clothing line, which will be introduced in mid-July and called "Cat & Jack."

Bloomberg noted that the new product line is a "crucial step" for Target to improve its financials. The greater babies, kids, style and wellness categories account for $25 billion in annual sales and boast higher margins compared to groceries and appliances.

Target's Cat & Jack is supposed to look modern, inclusive, fun and cool. What kid doesn't want to wear a t-shirt that has the slogan "Periodically Genius, But Always Cool"?
