Options Bears Out In Force On Real Estate ETF (IYR)

The iShares Trust DJ US Real Estate Index Fund (NYSE: IYR) is seeing some bearish options trade with the purchase of more than 10,000 March 40 puts and the sale of similar amount of March 38 puts. Volume was above interest in higher strike, but below open interest in the lower strike.
IYR tracks real estate trusts and has nearly doubled off its March low, but has turned in only a mediocre performance over the last several months.
Similar trades were also spotted in other December strikes such as the December 39 and 43 puts and the December 35 and 40 puts. Put volume is outpacing call volume in IYR by a margin of 13 to 1.
