US Stock Futures Depicting Bright Day Ahead

Share

US stock futures have moved higher today ahead of a Federal Reserve meeting where the policymakers may reiterate their promise to maintain interest rates at low levels for an "extended period" of time for the last time. While futures on S&P 500 added 1 point to 1146.70, those on Nasdaq 100 moved up 2.25 points to 1919.20. Meanwhile, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures rose 7 points.

Investors will be mostly focused on the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) decision and particularly on the language employed. Data on US import prices and housing starts for February will also be released today. Housing starts are expected to have declined in February, largely due to harsh winter weather conditions and lower demand.

Asian stock markets were mixed, as investors were cautious ahead of the US Federal Reserve and Bank of Japan policy meetings. However, European stocks have moved up, led by banks and automakers.
