Consumers Pay Up For Beef In November

The retail customer paid a record $6.303 per pound for beef in November, 6.2 cents higher than October and a whopping 89.4 cents higher than November 2013. Meanwhile, Cattle slaughter last week was 552,000 head, down 3 percent for the week and down 10.5 percent from last year. The average steer weight was up 20 pounds from a year ago for the 20th week in a row. Live Cattle Futures have slipped record highs recently.
