Why Vivendi SA (Public, EPA:VIV) Has To Be Edged Out

If Vivendi SA (Public, EPA: VIV) decides to sell its stake in the NBC Universal, General Electric Co. (GE) will have to pay it $500 million. Vivendi controls a minority stake in the television and movie company NBC Universal. GE currently holds 80% of NBC Universal and Vivendi has a 20% stake in the ownership.
Comcast Corporation (Public, NASDAQ: CMCSA), a U.S based cable operator could be poised to own NBC Universal later if negotiations with GE are successful, edging out GE out of the entertainment and show business. Comcast, with its partners, provides consumer entertainment, news, information, and communication products and services to the general public.
