Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) is expanding fast in Asia and also took top honors in the Wall Street Journal’s Asia 200 survey. Apple's market share may be miniscule at 1.6% of the PC market share and only 0.6% of the mobile phone share, but that did not stop the company from consistently appearing among the top five companies ranked by consumers in Asia, when broken down by attributes.

It is expected that in China, a quarter of the 1.3 billion population will be online by 2009 end. These users are very different from Americans in that their average age is just 25 as compared to the 45 for Americans.

Chinese internet users are young and while most of them have no PC at home, they cram into net cafes open 24 hours a day to chat, downloads videos, listen to music and surf online. The Chinese long for a palm held device to go online on and access all the information they need. Given the huge Chinese population, getting a share of the market is a huge and lucrative prize.
