Internet search giant Yahoo (Nasdaq: YHOO) will join rivals Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) and Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) in including Twitter posts in its search results, Yahoo said today.

Google and Microsoft announced several weeks ago that they would include Twitter posts, or "tweets," in their search results. Microsoft's Bing search engine has a special section for Twitter posts and Google has yet to start including tweets in its search results.

Microsoft and Google are paying privately held Twitter to inlcude tweets in its search results, but Yahoo said it is using free tools to mine Twitter and that it will not pay the company to include tweets on Yahoo searches.

Yahoo is in a search partnership with Microsoft and will be using Microsoft technology to power its search engine starting in 2010.
