Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ: YHOO)’s new real time search engine is expected to go live tomorrow. For this new search engine, Yahoo has partnered with OneRiot. When users search for certain queries, OneRiot results will appear in the main Yahoo search results page.
OneRiot has been working on this project for 18 months. However, initially, OneRiot worked on the Y!BOSS platform. Then, it migrated into real time search. Besides Yahoo, about 70 partners (including Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT) and Reed Elsevier Plc (NYSE: RUK) use OneRiot’s realtime search API.
PulseRank - OneRiot’s proprietary ranking algorithm – highlights the social buzz on web content. Both Microsoft and Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) will be launching their own real time search engines. They will be doing this through their data relationships with Twitter and Facebook.
