British Airways Strike Enters Second Day (BAIRY)
A strike by British Airways' (OTC:BAIRY) cabin crew union has now entered its second day. Both the parties are putting forward their own version of the strike’s impact on operations. British Airways (BAIRY) cabin crew had called for the strike over working conditions and pay freezes. British Airways officials stated that they are aiming to operate at 60% efficiency level. While cabin crew union maintained that the airline’s hub in Heathrow resembled a “Ghost Town”.
The airline has charted out contingency plans which included training replacement workers to aid the operations. Willie Walsh, CEO of British Airways, said that he was, “really pleased that the contingency plans have worked. We have been doing much better than expected,” he said. “We’re flying every flight that we were planning to fly and indeed have introduced a couple of extra flights.”
