Boeing Company (NYSE: BA) plans to increase production of 777s and 747s sooner-than-expected to cope with rising demand.
Randy Tinseth, Vice President of marketing for commercial airplanes at Boeing, said, “We see 2010 as the year of overall economic recovery within the industry and 2011 a year where airlines return to profitability. As a result, we anticipate an increase in demand for airplanes in 2012 and beyond.”
The company is planning to move 777s production increase program from early 2012 to mid-2011. For 747s, the company plans to increase production from 1 ½ per month to 2 per month, beginning in mid-2012, a year sooner than the company’s previous plans.
