Medtronic, Inc. (NYSE: MDT) announced on Wednesday that the company's MiniMed Paradigm REAL-Time Revel System diabetes management system was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The MiniMed Paradigm REAL-Time Revel System incorporates insulin pump therapy, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and diabetes therapy management software into one system.

The system can issue alerts to warn users before a dangerous low or high glucose event takes place.

The insulin pump feature will give people greater control over insulin delivery, depending on their sensitivity to insulin.
