Apple Hires Wearable Computing Engineer, Richard DeVaul (AAPL)
Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) has hired wearable computing engineer, Richard DeVaul who is the co-founder of AWare Technologies, which focuses on creating products for the fitness and wellness markets. According to Mr. DeVaul's blog, he is "an expert in signal processing and real-time statistical classification techniques. This means that I know how to make tiny computers do “thin slicing,” as popularized in Malcolm Gladwell’s “blink.” It’s all about extracting the small pieces of information that are most meaningful."
An example of the technology that Mr. DeVaul will likely be working on can be found in Nike's line of sneakers which wirelessly connect to an iPod and track a person's distance and pace when on the move. Nike (NYSE: NKE) partnered with Apple (AAPL) in order to produce the high tech shoes.
