Deutsche Telekom To Introduce Gender Quotas (DT)
Deutsche Telekom (NYSE: DT) has announced that it plans to double the number of its female managers within five years. European companies are increasingly facing pressure to increase female representation and to address gaps in pay and opportunities. Female managers hold 12% of Deutsche Telekom’s (DT) middle and senior management positions. The company is planning to increase this participation to 30% by 2015.
Deutsche Telekom’s CEO Rene Obermann said, “Taking on more women in management positions is not about the enforcement of misconstrued egalitarianism. Having a greater number of women at the top will quite simply enable us to operate better.” The company is also planning to increase its hiring of female university graduates.
