JP Morgan Fund Makes Investment in China And India (JPM)
JP Morgan (NYSE: JPM) is actively exploring for assets in Asia. The company has global assets of $43 billion in the infrastructure and real estate sectors. JP Morgan (JPM) is especially interested in India and China. It has invested approximately 25% of its Asian Infrastructure fund in these two countries. The fund has a corpus of $860 million. The investment vehicle has invested in a hospital in India, whereas in China, it invested in cement and water treatment companies.
In an interview with Reuters, Philip Jackson, chief of JP Morgan's Asia Infrastructure Investments Group (JPM) said, “Clearly we anticipate China and India will be the two largest markets, but frankly we are anticipating we could be investing equally easily in Korea or in Southeast Asia." JP Morgan also has an Indian property fund worth $350 million. Its China property fund has a corpus of $600 million.
