According to certain unidentified sources, Verizon (NYSE: VZ) has been prompting the FTC to investigate and block the acquisition of AdMob by Google (NASDAQ: GOOG). Verizon believes that AdMob’s deal may prove to be the initial step for GOOG in launching its own wireless network. This will make GOOG a competitor of Verizon.
According to a Bloomberg report, NHTSA records indicated that 59 out of 110 fatalities attributed to sudden acceleration happened in vehicles that were not sold by Toyota Motor (NYSE: TM). After TM, which is linked to 51 deaths, come Ford (NYSE: F) and Chrysler vehicles, which were associated to 20 and 12 deaths, respectively.
Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) has advised its clients to buy puts on Brazil's real estate to hedge against a slump around the country's October presidential election. BAC said elections should not be "treated as a non-event, as markets seem to be doing right now.”
The top revenue generator at Yahoo (NASDAQ: YHOO), Joanne Bradford, is planning to leave the search giant to accept a new position as chief revenue officer at Demand Media. Bradford’s resignation comes as a surprise to YHOO, where she was due to play a key role in the company’s partnership with Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT).
MetLife (NYSE: MET) says it's going to boost earnings at Alico beyond last year's $1.5 billion. MET plans to initiate ad campaigns and technological changes to achieve its aim to grow Alico’s earnings. With new operations in over 50 nations, MetLife expects to retain its return on equity at 15% or better.
