Panasonic (NYSE: PUK), the world’s fourth largest flat TV maker, has signed a deal with US electronics chain Best Buy Co. (NYSE: BBY) to market its 3D TVs in the United States. The Japanese company is expected to launch its 3D TVs in the United States this month. The company will be in direct competition with Sony Corp. (NYSE: SNE), LG Electronics and Samsung electronics.
Panasonic is expected to price the US version of its TVs cheaper than the Japanese editions. Panasonic is trying to get its TV business out of its loss-making streak. Its TV unit has reported losses in the last two years.
Best Buy (BBY) will arrange special exhibition corners for new 3D TVs in its 300 stores across the country. The TVs will be available at 1,000 Best Buy locations later this year.
