Toyota Motor Corporation (ADR) (NYSE: TM) will face a civil lawsuit filed by Orange County prosecutors on Friday. The county filed the lawsuit over safety concerns in the vehicles sold by the Japanese carmaker.

The office will seek to put a stop to Toyota’s marketing and sales arm in the U.S. for endangering public safety and selling defective vehicles and pursuing deceptive business practices.

Toyota has recalled more than 8 million cars and trucks world-wide for issues relating to uncontrolled and unintended acceleration. The company has recently denied any problems with its electronic system onboard its vehicles.
