Google, Inc.’s (NASDAQ: GOOG) chief executive, Eric Schmidt, has expressed hope that the company’s negotiations with China will end soon.
Speaking at a media summit in Abu Dhabi, Schmidt said, “We are in active negotiations with the Chinese government.” However, Schmidt refused to give any updates on the status of the talks.
Talking about US government’s involvement in the issue, he said, “The Google action was not in any way coordinated with the U.S. government except post-facto. The U.S. government is doing its thing without Google."
Schmidt also emphasized the importance of mobile devices, and said that the future of the internet is no longer about pipes and tubes only.
