Google (GOOG) Announces Business Application Platform

Google Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOG) has made a bold move in the business applications market with its new online store, the Google Apps Marketplace.
The Google Apps Marketplace features applications from more than fifty companies and will surely grow with time.
By creating a marketplace for business applications, Google can offer its customers the best applications available from a wide variety of sources.
Once a business customer installs the applications, they can manage them through their Google Apps control panel.
Using a strategy similar to those of Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL), Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) and eBay (Nasdaq: EBAY), Google will be able to focus on creating a vibrant marketplace, instead of getting bogged down in the details of designing individual business applications.
It looks like the strategy will also turn potential Google competitors into customers and partners, who will contribute additional revenue streams, as well as intellectual expertise and marketing resources.
Google plans to give a more detailed account of the Google Apps Marketplace at the Google I/O conference from May 19 to 20.
