The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Allegran's (NYSE: AGN) Botox for use in treating muscle spasms in elbows, wrists and fingers.
Botox works by blocking the connections between nerves and muscle, temporarily paralyzing the spastic muscle, according to the Associated Press. Botox is most famous for its cosmetic uses, namely to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and other minor cosmetic problems.
The FDA said it has not approved Botox for treatment of leg spasms.
