Shares of the following companies were making waves in the US stock market today:
Cell Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ: CTIC) shares were up 31.77% to $1.18 at 2:09 pm, after the company announced FDA clearance for a manufacturing facility for its experimental cancer drug.
Helix Energy Solutions Group Inc (NYSE: HLX) shares rose 6.32% to $12.61, following the firm’s announcement that it was reviewing its strategic options.
Imax Corp (NASDAQ: IMAX) stock climbed 8.8% after its 3-D film "Alice in Wonderland” raked in over $100 million in the first weekend.
After being upgraded to “outperform” from “market perform” by BMO Capital Markets, Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ: RIMM) advanced 5.83%.
Sprint Nextel Corp (NYSE: S) shares rose 6.1%. S was leading the phone stocks, most of which moved up.
Xyratex Ltd (NASDAQ: XRTX) shares jumped 15.13% after the data-storage technology company hiked its forecasts for Q1.
