Starbucks To Allow Its Customers To Carry Firearms Into Its Stores (SBUX)
Starbucks Corp. (NASDAQ: SBUX) has decided to let its patrons openly carry their firearms into its stores. However, the coffee chain would still require them to be in compliance with local laws. The decision has brought the coffee company under fire from anti-gun groups. Starbucks (SBUX) said, “Advocacy groups from both sides of this issue have chosen to use Starbucks as a way to draw attention to their positions."
The company has clarified that it will comply with local laws and statures in all the communities. It further stated, “where these laws don't exist, we comply with laws that prohibit the open carrying of weapons." Anti-gun group “Brady Campaign” has written a letter to Starbucks CEO Howard Schulz, criticizing the decision. Whereas John Pierce, co-founder of OpernCarry.org said that he expects other companies to follow Starbucks' lead.
