Ford Fiesta Recieves More Than 6,000 Reservations (F, TM)

Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) shows the demand for the new Ford Fiesta is heating up before orders are allowed to be placed on February 15th of this year. Ford states that all 50 states are represented in reservations with interest from both Ford and non-Ford customers; 51 percent of Fiesta reservations are from non-Ford customers.
This non-Ford customer number could be an indirect effect of Toyota Motor's (NYSE: TM) recent quality turmoil. More than 100,000 "handraisers" are showing an interest in the new fuel-efficient car as Ford aims to take market share away from Toyota in the fuel-efficient car market.
On February 9th Toyota released a report that it would recall another 400,000 Prius cars which would be a close alternative to the Ford Fiesta (Toyota Motor Corp. (TM) Recalls Another 400,000 Vehicles). The Ford Fiesta is reported to showcase 40 miles per gallon on the highway.
