Mark Reuss, General Motors' president of North America operations said that he believes that the recent Toyota Motor Corp. (NYSE: TM) recalls will lead to increased National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regulations in the United States.
Since the Toyota braking related recalls mounted, the NHTSA has asked all auto makers to submit details on how they implement the use of a brake override system known as "Smart Pedal."
Reuss said General Motors has anticipated the increased regulation and scrutiny that auto manufacturers will be under and that General Motors will be ready to comply with any information requests that the NHTSA makes.
