Top Performing Industries For February 5 (ARG, BBW, NTT, RVBD, UVV)
After the release of the much awaited employment numbers for January, the market is again on a downturn. Although the S&P 500 has lost 1.25% so far today, some of the industries that have showed strength amid murky jobs data and investors concerns over sovereign debt in Europe are:
Industrial Equipment Wholesale: This industry was the top gainer of the day and had added 6.85% by 1:51 p.m. ET. Airgas Inc (NYSE: ARG), which had jumped 38.09% on a 36% hike in annual dividends, had single handedly taken the industry to heights today.
Toy & Hobby Stores: This industry was second in the row and had climbed 2.19% by 1:51 p.m. ET. Build-A-Bear Workshop Inc (NYSE: BBW), which rose 1.54%, was the top gainer in the industry.
Telecom Services – Foreign: This industry moved up 0.76% by 1:51 p.m. ET. Nippon Telegraph And Telephone Corp (NYSE: NTT) climbed 1.09%. Although NTT’s profits slipped 0.7%, the company backed its full year outlook.
Networking & Communication Devices: The industry has risen by 0.55% and has the top gainer in the form of Riverbed Technology, Inc (NASDAQ: RVBD). RVBD had gained 1.74% by 2:25 pm to trade at $23.67.
Tobacco Products, Other: This industry has added 0.51%, with Universal Corp (NYSE: UVV) gaining 1.32% to trade at $45.96 at 2:15 pm.
