Abercrombie & Fitch Crushes January Sales Expectations (ANF)

Struggling teen retailer Abercrombie & Fitch (NYSE: ANF) Thursday blew away expectations for January sales and the stock surged pre-market.
Analysts had expected same-store sales to decline 7.9%, but Abercrombie surprised to the upside as its reported comps rose 8.0% in January. Total sales in January were $222.8 million, up 16% from $191.5 million a year ago.
Shares of Abercrombie rose $2.42, or 7.57%, to $34.38 in pre-market trading.
