Japanese Consumers To Use iPhone 4 Through DoCoMo Network
According to an article on Reuters, Japanese wireless services provider, Japan Communications, has decided to launch a service that will enable users to use Apple Inc's (NASDAQ: AAPL) iPhone 4 on NTT DoCoMo's network. This move can give a major boost to iPhone’s sales from this month.
Consumers in Japan can so far use the highly popular iPhone and iPad tablet computer through DoCoMo's smaller rival Softbank Corp’s network. Softbank has been seeing strong subscriber growth due to high uptake of the devices.
As the network of DoCoMo is much stronger than that of Softbank, the move by Japan Communications to sell subscriber identity module (SIM) cards having DoCoMo network information may attract many consumers.
Analysts expect Apple to ship more than 10 million iPhones per quarter to Japan, which was one of the first overseas markets to get the latest iPhone.
