The annual general meeting for the UK life insurer Prudential (NYSE: PUK) is scheduled for today, less than a week after the collapse of the company’s $35.5 billion deal to acquire the Asian unit of AIG (NYSE: AIG). PUK’s shares fell 2.39% to close at $15.92 on Friday, while AIG’s shares dropped 0.72% to $34.50 in after hours trading.
The worldwide developers' conference for Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) is scheduled for today. The keynote speech will be delivered by AAPL’s chief executive officer, Steve Jobs. During the conference, AAPL is likely to present the next version of the iPhone. AAPL’s shares lost 0.30% to $255.20 in after-hours trading.
Tony Hayward of BP Plc (NYSE: BP) told the BBC on Sunday that he did not intend to resign over the disastrous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. BP’s shares gained 1.96% to $37.89 in the after hours trading session.
Halliburton (NYSE: HAL) has planned to give a presentation today at RBC Capital Markets' Global Energy & Power Conference. HAL’s shares moved down 0.22% to $23.06 in after hours trading.
Johnson Controls Inc (NYSE: JCI) said it continues to be interested in buying the interiors and electronics business of Visteon Corp (NYSE: VC) for $1.25 billion. JCI’s shares lost 0.11% to $27.50 in the after hours trading session.
