Jones Soda Company (NASDAQ: JSDA) climbed 19.81% to $1.25 by 12:47 pm. JSDA has recently struck a deal with Wal-Mart (NYSE: WMT) to sell its products in the retailer giant’s nearly 3,800 US-based stores. The deal will enhance Jones' total retail outlet distribution by almost 10%.
Birks & Mayors Inc (NYSE: BMJ) soared 17.65% to $1.40. BMJ is the designer, developer, manufacturer and retailer of fine jewelry, time pieces, sterling silver and gifts in Canada and the southeastern US.
ev3 Inc (NASDAQ: EVVV) shares advanced 17.44% to $22.22. The vascular-treatment company EVVV has announced that it is going to be acquired by Covidien PLC (NYSE: COV) for $2.6 billion in cash.
WSP Holdings Ltd (NYSE: WH) jumped 15.38% to $2.10. Although WH has lost 60.43% over the past 52 weeks, the S&P 500 has gained 18.52%.
