Matias Duarte, The WebOS Architect Leaves Palm Inc. (PALM, GOOG)

According to a report filed over at All Things D, Matias Duarte, the man considered to be the design mastermind behind the user interface of WebOS, has left Palm Inc. (NASDAQ: PALM), and may very well be headed to Google Inc.(NASDAQ: GOOG), as indicated by John Paczkowski over at D, to work on Android.

Duarte’s departure has been confirmed by the company. According to Engadget, Duarte, before working at Palm, was part of the group that came up with Sidekick and Helio UIs. Joshua Topolski of the Engadget believes that Matias’ rigid attitude toward design and his control-freak nature caused conflict, and this could well be the reason for his departure.
