According to a report by the Financial Times, hedge funds were excluded from Greece’s bond offering this week.

Bankers were specifically asked by Greece to exclude hedge funds, who have been blamed by many in Greece for destabilizing the country’s economy by speculating on its debt. Hedge funds have come under pressure from leaders in euro zone over their role in the crisis faced by Greece.

Politicians and regulators in the euro zone believe that the containment of speculative instruments such as credit default swaps is important to stop attacks on destabilizing the weaker euro zone economies.
