"According to FDIC data, banks have increased its holdings of US Treasury securities by $306bn, or 300% since the end of 2009. That said, the lion’s share of bank buying (we use the big four banks as the proxy) has been in 1-5year maturities, with only 7% of Treasury purchases occurring in the 5-10year range."
