Thursday, September 3, 2015, at 8:30 AM ET, Statistics Canada will be releasing the trade balance for Canada.

The trade balance indicates what the difference is between the imported goods and exported goods for the country in regards to value. Export demand is directly linked to currency demand due to domestic currency having to be purchased in order to pay for the exports.

A Monthly News Release

This report is released 35 days after the month ends every month. A good strategy to trade this event is the Straddle using Nadex USD/CAD Spreads. You want to keep your risk to $40 or less. With a Straddle you are trading two spreads to straddle the market.

Sell your lower spread for around $20 or less, and buy your upper spread for around $20 or less. The ceiling of your lower sold spread should be where the market is trading at that time.

The floor of your upper bought spread should be where the market is trading at that time. There you will have your Straddle Strategy trade set and ready.

Enter At 8:00 AM ET For 10:00 AM ET Expiration

You can enter at 8:00 AM ET for an expiration of 10:00 AM ET. You can leave your trade on until expiration to allow for a full play out of the trade. When one side of the trade wins, the other side will lose.

You’re looking for a $40 profit, which is an 80 pip move in one direction, depending on your entries. Anything past 40 pips in one direction will be profit and breakeven will be at 40 pips in one direction, again depending on what your exact entries were.

This trade strategy is based on market analysis of market reaction to the report going back 12 - 24 monthly releases.

Nadex stands for North American Derivatives Exchange and also offers binaries for trade. Its spreads and binaries can be traded from 49 different countries as well as the U.S.

They are a U.S. exchange and regulated by the CFTC.
