Shares of Sensata Technologies Holding NV (NYSE: ST) gained about 0.4% after the company announced that some of its units will buy Sensor-NITE Group Companies from Elex Group for euro 225 million or around $325 million. Sensata reported that the deal should close in the third quarter, subject to conditions including regulatory clearances.
Shares of Tata Motors Ltd (NYSE: TTM) dropped about 0.3% after the company reported an 11% y/y rise in its global vehicle sales in May. Tata Motors global vehicle sales came in at 88,251 units. The auto maker's global sales of trucks and buses climbed 17% to 22,296 vehicles. Its global sales of cars and SUVs surged 2% to 44,181 vehicles. The total sales of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles surged 17% to 22,296 units. Sales of Land Rover SUVs climbed 30% to 18,075 vehicles, while that of Jaguar cars dropped 18% to 4,221 units.
J. Sainsbury PLC (OTC: JSAIY) reported a 7.3% surge in total sales for the first quarter on Wednesday. Sainsbury's total sales rose 4.3% excluding fuel for the first quarter ended June 11. On a comparable basis, Sainsbury's sales increased 4.8% and 1.9% excluding fuel.
