California’s Renewable Solar plants to be constructed soon

AES Corp. (AES), FPL Group Inc. (FPL), BrightSource Energy Inc. and Germany's Solar Millennium (S2M.XE) are waiting to start constructing five renewable solar plants and one wind farm as soon as the government permits construction. According to U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, the power plants would generate 2,500 megawatts of electricity and serve around 2 million homes.

The energy developers will also be eligible for federal stimulus funds if they begin construction by December 2010 and will not have to wait for lengthy environmental reviews.
