Today's Morning Top Gainers (PIR, STAR, DRJ, SVA, UPI)

Pier 1 Imports, Inc. (NYSE: PIR) is today’s top percentage gainer in morning trade and surged 19.50% today to $5.27 on an unusual huge volume of 10.69 million shares as fter the retailer of imported home furnishings said September sales at stores open at least one year increased 9.9 percent from a year earlier and it inventory probably peaked at the end of the third quarter at about $350 million.

Starent Networks Corp. (NASDAQ: STAR) climbed 17% to $33.97 on huge volume of 21.37 million shares after Cisco Systems' announcement that it was buying Starent Networks for $2.9 billion, making it the networking gear maker's second major purchase in three weeks.

Dreams, Inc. (AMEX: DRJ) also moving sharply by 16.52% to $1.20 on over 436K shares – 2.50X its average volume. In the last 3 months DRJ jumped up about 195%

Sinovac Biotech Ltd. (AMEX: SVA) soared 13% now trades at $8.45 on high volume of 4.68 million shares after its wholly-owned subsidiary, Sinovac Biotech (Hong Kong) Ltd, has received the Certificate of Approval to distribute Panflu (H5N1), its H5N1 (bird flu) pandemic influenza vaccine, in Hong Kong.

Uroplasty, Inc. (AMEX: UPI) today moved up 23.60% to $1.99 with over 262K shares changed hands . So far this year UPI has rallied over 100%.
