Solar Stocks Crushed (FSLR, JASO, LDK, CSIQ, SOL, TSL)

The entire solar complex, with the exception of First Solar (NASDAQ: FSLR), was crushed on Friday. This looks like some heavy profit-taking in the high-flying sector, as many of the stocks actually opened higher and fell throughout the day.

Barrons is also reporting that news that U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk launched an investigation today into allegations that China unfairly supports its domestic producers of wind and solar energy products and other green industries may be weighing on the shares. Many of the hardest hit stocks are Chinese solar names.

American based First Solar (NASDAQ: FSLR) is the exception today, as that stock gained 1.61% on the session.

Chinese names that have fallen precipitously include J.A. Solar Holdings (NASDAQ: JASO), LDK Solar (NYSE: LDK), Canadian Solar (NASDAQ: CSIQ), ReneSola Ltd. (NYSE: SOL), and Trina Solar Limited (NYSE: TSL). An appraisal of the damage at the close of Friday's damage can be found below.

JASO -7.47%

LDK -4.19%

CSIQ -6.96%

SOL -10.45%

TSL -8.98%
