Hurd had resigned from HPQ last month, during an investigation of a claim of sexual harassment against him. The company’s board did not find any evidence against him. ORCL’s shares surged about 6.5% following the announcement.
US financial stocks were the top decliners in the S&P 500 Index. The ETF's top losers were Hartford Financial Services Group Inc (NYSE: HIG) and Lincoln National Corp (NYSE: LNC).The Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) fell about 1.72%.
